Feature writing
The fun stuff
This story taught me that it's ok to break the mold of traditional feature writing. Defining the words was a challenge due to the many sources I used to clarify their meanings. Overall, this is one of my favorite works.
As an athlete myself, I thought I should display a common issue within sports: injuries. I loved writing this piece as a sports feature because it gave me the opportunity to be creative and informative. This is one of my best articles that I have written for the Arrow
I wanted to write a hard-hitting topic for my peers to be informed about. This story was challenging due to trying to find educated sources and people who would speak about depression. Overall, I think that this is an awesome informative feature about a serious topic.
This was my first story on a center spread. I had to iron-out many kinks of writing a longer story, but eventually pushed through. I found my perseverance in the news room with this spread, and I genuinely enjoy the story.
This story was a heavy-hitting and fun piece to write. Unfortunately, the person I was supposed to write this with dropped the ball on deadline week, so I wrote the whole story by myself (on top of my other ones.) I love the sources and passion in this article.
