The teachers were not getting a fair contract. I reached out to the school board and to the teachers. I provided a light into my community about the contracts because they wanted to bury it. This article taught me to be a solid reporter by reporting only the facts.
This article was super fun to write. The school sicknesses inspired me to make a quick little news brief displaying factual information that some students need to hear. I researched patterns within the flu strands, talked with doctors and even kids that were sick.
This article was hard to write due to it being a political issue. I worked through interviews and research to figure out what to include and how to stay unbiased. It displays the tenacity I have to write about tough subjects.
This column was about how classrooms at Utica never hold a steady temperature. I think that this article demonstrates my personality within writing. It shows my voice through the humorous tone and catching lead. After this story was published, it caught attention from administrators which caused change within the rooms.
